The 2024 Cycling World Championships, held in Zurich, thrilled cycling fans with a spectacular race. Tadej Pogacar was crowned champion in the road race, completing a distance of 273.9 km in 6:27:30. This victory awarded him the Triple Crown, making him one of the few cyclists in history to win the Giro, Tour, and World Championship in the same year, a feat also achieved by Eddy Merckx and Stephen Roche.
Pogacar launched his decisive attack 100 km from the finish, overtaking his competitors one by one until he crossed the finish line with a 34-second lead over Australian Ben O'Connor, who took the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Mathieu van der Poel.
In the women's category, Lotte Kopecky has been crowned world road champion for the second year in a row at the 2024 World Championships in Zurich. The Belgian survived the work of the Netherlands and the attempts of Demi Vollering to retain the rainbow jersey ahead of Chloé Dygert, silver, and Elisa Longo Borghini, bronze.
At SISMIC, we celebrate these achievements and feel inspired by the commitment and dedication of all competitors in this championship. Congratulations to all participants and winners! 🚴♂️💨
